China’s aquaculture industry is advancing toward large-scale, intensive development. As the “health guardians” of aquaculture, veterinary medicines and water-conditioning products serve as critical support for ensuring production safety and maintaining the stability of aquatic ecosystems. To further optimize resource integration, coordinate the efforts of all stakeholders, and improve the production and use of veterinary medicines and aquaculture water-conditioning products; to promote the research and development of new veterinary medicines and the formulation of group standards for water-conditioning products; and to strengthen industry self‑regulation and oversight, the Second Meeting of the Fifth Council of the China Fisheries Association has deliberated and approved the merger and reorganization of the Aquatic Animal Health Products Branch and the Aquaculture Inputs Branch, establishing the “China Fisheries Association Veterinary Medicine and Water‑Conditioning Products Branch.”
On July 8, 2025, the inaugural General Assembly of the Fisheries Pharmaceuticals and Water‑Conditioning Products Branch of the China Fisheries Association, themed “Standardizing Industry Development, Safeguarding Quality and Safety, and Building Sustainable Aquaculture Together,” was solemnly held in Changsha, Hunan Province. At the event, the branch was officially established, with more than 500 representatives from government, industry, academia, research institutions, and end‑users gathering to witness this major industry milestone.
At the conference, the first council of directors, standing directors, and the president, executive vice presidents, vice presidents, secretary-general, and deputy secretary-general—along with other leadership members of the Branch Association for Aquaculture Pharmaceuticals and Water‑Conditioning Products—were elected. Li Qing, Vice President of the China Fisheries Association, was elected president of the branch’s first council; Researcher Wang Yingeng of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and seven other individuals were elected executive vice presidents; and Leng Dunpeng, General Manager of Qingdao Zhongren Animal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., along with 15 other individuals, were elected vice presidents.
The official establishment of the Fisheries Medicines and Water‑Conditioning Products Branch of the China Fisheries Association marks a pivotal step forward for China’s aquaculture industry in standardizing input management and building a robust system for ensuring product quality and safety.
