Heat stress refers to a series of abnormal reactions caused by the body when the temperature of the livestock and poultry house exceeds the upper limit of the isothermal zone required by the species for a long time, resulting in the disorder of body temperature regulation and physiological function of livestock and poultry. Due to the different types and ages of livestock and poultry, their requirements for ambient temperature and adaptability to high temperature are also different. Therefore, each animal has its own isothermal zone, and livestock and poultry can perform best in the isothermal zone. In general, the isothermal zone of broilers is10 ℃ ~ 28 ℃, 13 ℃ ~ 25 ℃ for laying hens, 30 ℃ ~ 35 ℃ for suckling pigs, 20 ℃ ~ 28 ℃ for piglets, 16 ℃ ~ 26 ℃ for fattening pigs, 16 ℃ ~ 22 ℃ for sows, 14 ℃ ~ 25 ℃ for boars, and the suitable temperature in the delivery room is 22 ℃ ~ 28 ℃. Providing a suitable environment for livestock and poultry is a problem that farmers must pay attention to in the process of daily feeding and management. The occurrence of heat stress will cause varying degrees of adverse effects on feed intake, growth rate, production performance, body immunity, product quality, feed conversion rate of livestock and poultry, and cause a large number of deaths in severe cases.
Clinical Study on Heat Stress of Livestock and Poultry
1. Clinical manifestations of heat stress in chickens:Chickens have no sweat glands and have poor regulation of high temperature. The temperature of chicken coop in summer exceedsAt 28 ℃, the flock will have different degrees of heat stress, showing elevated body temperature, neck stretching and mouth panting, wings opening, lying down less moving; drinking water increased sharply, feed intake decreased significantly, heavy waste food; drainage sample thin feces; egg production decreased, egg weight reduced, egg contents thin, eggshell thin and fragile, shell breakage rate high, soft egg rate increased significantly; chicks and brood chickens showed poor growth and development, and the pass rate and uniformity decreased. If the heat stress lasts for a long time or the temperature in the house exceeds 35 ℃, it will cause the physiological function of the chicken to be disordered, resulting in heat exhaustion and death.
2Clinical manifestations of heat stress in pigs:Pigs start panting every minute50 times, regulate body temperature by accelerating breathing times and relying on lung evaporation and heat dissipation; Food intake decreased, water intake increased, and daily gain decreased. Unwilling to contact each other, prone in a cool place and ventilated place alone; Under heat stress for a long time, the whole body trembles, dyspnea, mucous membrane cyanosis, skin flushing or purple spots, and dry feces are granular. The temperature exceeds 38 ℃, shortness of breath, appetite and desire to drink, high fever, muscle stiffness, until heat stroke death.
