How to improve the egg production rate of free-range chickens?

1. Choose excellent free-range chicken breeds. There are many varieties of local high-quality free-range chickens in China, such as Gushi chicken, Sanhuang chicken, Luhua chicken, North China red feather chicken, etc., and has many advantages, which is an ideal variety of free-range chickens.

2. Build a good chicken house. On the one hand, a chicken house with good heat preservation performance, good ventilation and temperature control should be built as a brooding room, and its size should be determined according to the amount of breeding. In addition, to build a caged chicken coop or shed chicken coop, so that chickens continue to lay eggs in summer and winter. Third, according to the number of free-range chickens fed, build a suitable arbor for free-range chickens to avoid summer heat, wind, rain, rest, etc.

3. Strengthen the feeding management at all stages.

(1) Ensure good brood. The chicks should drink electrolyte water within 1 hour after entering the house. After drinking electrolyte water, they should change the medicine water in time. Antibiotics such as florfenicol or amoxicillin should be added to the water to prevent chicks from bringing pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli and mycoplasma.

(2) strengthen the breeding period of feeding management. In this period, green fodder is mainly fed, and concentrate is properly supplied. The amount of supplement is determined according to the weight of chickens. For heavy chickens, the amount of concentrate feed is reduced, while the amount of feed is increased. Eliminate weak chicks and try to make chickens have a higher uniformity. Do a good job of chicken stocking and training, do a good job in all kinds of epidemic prevention.

(3) Strengthen the management of laying period. One is to provide full price nutrition. During the laying period, compound feed with comprehensive nutrition, high quality and good palatability should be provided. When the laying rate reaches 5%, layer feed should be started. The feed should be mainly concentrate and appropriate supplementary green and juicy feed.

The second is to control the temperature. To create a suitable temperature for chickens to lay eggs, for example, laying hens should be placed in a cool place in summer, plants should be planted around the chicken coop to shade the sun, cold water should be poured when the sun is strong at noon, and the chicken coop should be kept warm in winter.

Three is a reasonable light. Natural light, the length of time, greatly affects the performance of chicken laying, so it is necessary to fill the light, to promote the performance of egg production. Generally, light supplement is implemented twice in the morning and evening. The light is more than 16 hours throughout the day. After laying eggs for 2 to 3 months, the daily light time is adjusted to 17 hours. The light supplement is supplemented at the same time. After the light supplement is fixed, do not change easily.

Four is water, the trough should be sufficient. Water and trough should be placed far away and near the house. Water should be changed frequently and enough water should be used to ensure that the chickens can drink enough water and eat enough food.

Five is a reasonable set of egg box. Egg boxes should be set up about 1 month before the chickens lay eggs, and one egg box should be set up for every 4 to 5 chickens. When the chickens just start laying, 1~2 eggs or eggshells can be placed in the egg laying box to help the chickens fix the egg laying site and reduce "egg loss". Do not set up the egg box in a hurry after the chickens lay eggs.

Six is to prevent hens from nesting. When the temperature rises to 30 ℃, there are eggs in the egg-laying box or the protein level in the feed is low in the early stage of laying, it is easy to induce hens to nest. The occurrence of the phenomenon of holding the nest should be reduced, or the hens should be awakened in time. For example, the chicken in the nest is isolated, placed in a bright and well-ventilated place, and appropriate amounts of vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E are added to the feed. The brood hens are soaked with water for their feathers, placed in a ventilated place, and fed with adequate feed and water. Summer grazing should be under trees or in a cool place.

Seven is the timely elimination of disease, rest and low-yielding chickens. During the laying period, sick chickens or fake hens, hens, low-yielding chickens and sick chickens are selected for elimination by carefully observing the mental state of chickens, the color of cockscomb, touching the abdomen and pubic symphysis, etc., so as to improve the feed utilization rate.

4. Strict epidemic prevention and disinfection. Strict epidemic prevention procedures should be formulated, and prevention and control of chicken epidemics should be carried out in accordance with the epidemic prevention procedures. At the same time, we must do a good job of sanitation and disinfection.

5. Listen to the weather forecast. Don't go up the mountain for stocking in bad weather or bad weather, and drive the chickens back to the shed in time to avoid losses caused by chicken deaths and injuries.

6. Choose a suitable season for the purchase of young. When purchasing young chicks, they must be purchased according to local conditions such as the stocking season, local climatic conditions and market prices. They are generally imported from February to March every year in the northern part of North China, and it is better to enter the laying period from mid-late July to early August.

7. Determine the appropriate density. The density should be determined according to the size of the stocking area and the grass resources. Generally, 60 to 100 adult free-range chickens are stocked in each mu of orchard or forest land.
