In the Jining region, a poultry farm raising 8,000 roosters reported, at 67 days of age, unilateral or bilateral eyelid swelling in some birds. Some chickens exhibited tearing and frothy discharge from the eyes, while a few showed nasal discharge. Mild respiratory signs were observed, and in severe cases, the entire eye area became swollen, leading to blindness.

Preliminary diagnosis: rhinitis with mixed mycoplasma infection; contributing factors include flock stress or a common cold.
Medication regimen: Kuaike (1,200 jin of water per bag) + Sodium Sulfamonomethoxine (initial dose: 80 jin of feed per bag; subsequent doses: 100 jin of feed per bag) + Zhimoying (200 jin of feed per bag), administered continuously for 4 days.
Follow-up report: After a four-day drug withdrawal period, on the fifth day of follow-up, most of the facial swelling in the flock had resolved, the eyes had largely returned to normal, and the birds’ overall condition had improved markedly. Feed intake had increased, and respiratory symptoms had essentially normalized.
