Treatment Protocol for Crucian Carp Hemorrhagic Disease

2026-06-05

During periods of high temperature, feed input increases, water quality deteriorates and becomes unstable, and the accumulation of dead algae and fecal matter at the pond bottom rises, creating favorable conditions for bacterial proliferation. This can lead to hemorrhagic disease in crucian carp, which, in severe cases, results in massive mortality.

II. Basic Information on Farmers’ Ponds
Farmer: Mr. Sun, Ten Farm, Caofeidian
Area: 18 mu of fish ponds
Species: Primarily cultivated are common carp, crucian carp, silver carp, and white amur.
Actual situation: Hemorrhagic symptoms were observed in crucian carp, with mass mortality; a small number of farmed common carp and silver/white carp also died. Microscopic examination of the crucian carp gills revealed no parasitic infestation.

III. Handling Plan
(1) On the first day, use one 500 ml bottle of Bishui Jiedu’an per two mu of land.

  1. On the following day, mix one bottle of glutaraldehyde (2.5–3 mu per meter) with one bottle of povidone‑iodine (6–7 mu per meter), then apply the mixture evenly throughout the entire pond.

(3) On the third day, dry‑scatter sea‑based probiotics at a rate of four mu per bag across the entire pond, primarily to eliminate harmful substances in the bottom layer.

Post-Medication Effect Feedback
On the second day, carp mortality dropped significantly; by the third day, only a dozen or so carp had died, and mortality among crucian carp, silver carp, and bighead carp had also declined markedly. By the fourth day, virtually no carp were dying, and feed intake had returned to normal.
