Early-stage water-fertilization case in a shrimp pond

2026-06-05

After stocking the fry, insufficient pond fertility can result in an overly lean water body with a lack of algae. When sunlight reaches the bottom, this often leads to the growth of green algae; excessive algal blooms can cause fry mortality. Moreover, algae serve as natural feed for shrimp larvae in the early stages, providing rich nutrients that promote growth.
Seventy percent of dissolved oxygen in aquatic systems also depends on algal photosynthesis; a lack of algae can likewise lead to low dissolved oxygen levels.
Algae preferentially uptake ammonium nitrogen, nitrite, and nitrate, thereby inhibiting their accumulation.
Algal–bacterial symbiosis breaks down leftover feed, feces, and dead algae, reducing hydrogen sulfide and heavy metals, resulting in more stable water conditions.
After fertilization, pH, water clarity, and water temperature remain stable, preventing the water from turning cloudy or developing an unpleasant odor.

In Datangzhuang Town, Baodi District, Tianjin, a 15-mu shrimp pond with a water depth of 1.5 meters has been left with clear, nutrient‑poor water after stocking; no algae are present, and some green algae have begun to grow around the edges. After applying Xintai Caojing to eliminate the algae, preparations are underway to enrich the water.

Apply Zhongren enzyme fertilizer at a rate of one bucket per 10 mu (or per meter), combined with Super Algae Seed at 3 mu per bottle, by evenly broadcasting it across the entire pond on a sunny morning. By the next day, the water color will have noticeably changed, and microscopic examination will reveal a rich algal community. Reapply every 7–10 days; for follow-up fertilization, use Quick-Acting Water Fertilizer at 5–10 mu per bucket, paired with Super Algae Seed at 3 mu per bottle, which delivers striking results.
