Addressing the issue of low-temperature fertilization and irrigation
2026-06-05
As temperatures drop and light intensity declines, algal photosynthesis gradually weakens, posing a challenge for shrimp farming in small greenhouses: maintaining adequate water fertility under low-temperature conditions.
Why apply fertilizer and water at low temperatures?
First, low-temperature fertilization and water management can provide abundant natural feed for the shrimp in small greenhouses.
Secondly, reduce water transparency to prevent turbidity, maintain water color, and increase dissolved oxygen levels.
Finally, enhancing the primary productivity of the water body and improving its self‑purification capacity—by enriching the water with nutrients to increase biomass and fostering a healthy algal and microbial community—ensures the smooth cycling of various substances within the system, thereby providing a stable living environment for shrimp in small‑scale ponds.
So how should we apply fertilizer and water under low-temperature conditions?
1. Choose to apply fertilizer water on consecutive sunny days; it is very difficult to fertilize when the temperature is too low.
II. Analyze the water quality parameters, paying particular attention to ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, and phosphate; supplement any deficiencies as needed.
3. Avoid using lactic acid bacteria and fertilizer‑water products simultaneously, as lactic acid bacteria can inhibit the growth and reproduction of most algae. Instead, consider applying photosynthetic bacteria in combination with a fermented carbon source to break down large‑molecule organic compounds into smaller ones that algae can readily absorb and utilize.

4. Avoid using this product simultaneously with disinfectants; apply it after neutralizing the disinfectant.
5. Excessively high water transparency indicates a lack of algal strains; introducing a composite diatom strain in combination with Diatom King can help promote nutrient‑rich water conditions.
