What should you do if Vibrio levels exceed the limit during hot weather?

2026-06-05

Vibrio disease is primarily caused by massive Vibrio blooms, deteriorating pond-bottom conditions, and poor shrimp health, making it the most common bacterial disease in shrimp aquaculture and one that can jeopardize the entire farming cycle. The main route of Vibrio infection is oral ingestion, followed by entry through body‑surface wounds and gills. Once inside, Vibrio bacteria actively adhere to the digestive tract or wound sites, disrupt the epithelial barrier, and invade the host, leading to inflammation, tissue ulceration, necrosis, or atrophy.
