Control Strategy for Sudden Mortality of Whiteleg Shrimp Caused by Vibrio in the High-Temperature Period

2026-06-05

With the onset of high temperatures, increased feeding rates, and fluctuating ambient conditions, Vibrio bacteria are reaching their peak. In ponds with poor algal and microbial communities, Vibrio outbreaks can occur rapidly, leading to sudden mortalities in Pacific white shrimp—such as “stealing deaths” and “hanging‑dead” phenomena—and, in severe cases, mass die-offs.

Recommended formulation: 50% super‑sulfur effervescent tablets + Isolated Cleanse + Green Arc Nemesis + Super Gold Bacteria

Prioritize applying potassium peroxymonosulfate effervescent tablets at a rate of 1 mu per packet, evenly dispersing them across the entire pond. The following morning, apply Isolated Purification agent at a rate of 2 mu per bottle, also spreading it uniformly over the pond. On the third day at noon, use Super Golden Bacteria at a rate of 5–8 mu per bucket to replenish beneficial microbial populations and stabilize both algal and bacterial communities. Concurrently, mix Green Arc Nemesis into the feed at a dosage of one bottle per 40 jin of feed.

Feed at every meal; a 3-day cycle constitutes one treatment course. Administer regularly.

It is recommended to cycle the treatment approximately every 10 days to effectively control vibrios.

Prevention is better than cure. This year, temperatures have been particularly unstable, with large diurnal temperature fluctuations, creating ideal conditions for vibrio proliferation. Aquaculturists are advised to carry out regular disinfection and periodically apply 50% potassium peroxymonosulfate effervescent tablets, followed by the supplementation of beneficial bacteria and algae to prevent vibrio outbreaks. Additionally, regularly use probiotics to stabilize water quality.
